York Prep’s Kory Davis is The Herald’s first-ever high school athlete of the week.

Last week, the sophomore guard averaged 26 points and 5.5 rebounds in York Prep’s wins over Legion Collegiate and North Central — which were both 19-plus point victories. Since then, Davis hasn’t stopped: In his team’s 48-46 loss to Andrew Jackson on Tuesday, he led his team in scoring with 20 points.

Due to inclement weather, York Prep’s game against Wesleyan Christian Academy has been canceled. The Patriots play next on Saturday at 1:30 p.m. against Carmel Christian.

Over 4,200 votes were cast in this week’s poll, and Davis earned 23.7 percent of all votes. He edged out Rock Hill girls’ basketball player Jada Jones, who amassed 22.4 percent of all votes.

Andrew Jackson’s DJ Ealey finished third, with 13.3 percent of the vote.
