Adam Christenberry is The Herald’s boys’ spring sport athlete of the week

Adam Christenberry of the Catawba Ridge lacrosse team is The Herald’s boys’ spring sport athlete of the week.
Christenberry earned 59 percent of the vote. He edged out Grayson Woodard of the Fort Mill boys’ soccer team, who accumulated 28 percent of the vote.

Zac Blackmon, Lancaster baseball: The Lancaster senior went 3-for-3 at the plate with a double, four RBIs, two runs and a stolen base in the Bruins’ 15-0 win at Chester on March 6.
Blackmon is hitting .444 for Lancaster (2-2) this season.
Adam Christenberry, Catawba Ridge boys’ lacrosse: The Catawba Ridge freshman had eight goals this week as the Copperheads’ split games with the Denver Lacrosse Club and Parkwood.
Christenberry had four goals in an 11-7 loss to Parkwood on March 2.
Three days later, Christenberry had four more goals as Catawba Ridge got its first win in program history, with a 12-9 victory over the Denver Lacrosse Club on March 5.
Christenberry has nine goals for a Catawba Ridge team (1-2) in its first year of existence without any seniors.
Channing Ferguson, Northwestern track: The Northwestern junior jumped a personal-best, 6-8, to win the high jump at the Trojan Relays’ Preseason Invitational on March 7.
Ferguson’s jump was the best in the state this season to lead the Northwestern boys’ to a 37-point (team) victory at the same meet.
Chris Singleton, Nation Ford track: The Nation Ford senior started his outdoor track season with a bang finished 1st in the triple jump and as runner-up in the high jump at the Trojan Relays’ Preseason Invitational at Northwestern on March 7.
Singleton’s went 41-9 to win the long jump and a personal-best 6-4 to finish second in the high jump at the same meet.
Kelton Talford, Great Falls basketball: The 6-foot-7 senior was at his best with 25 points, 17 rebounds and six blocks to lead Great Falls to a 73-71 victory in the 1A state championship game at Colonial Life Center in Colombia on March 7.
Talford, a Winthrop University signee, helped Great Falls (27-3) finish on top in his final high school game.
The Red Devils won 22 straight games to end the season.
Ethan Wilson, South Pointe baseball: The South Pointe sophomore went 2-for-3 at the plate with a run scored and a RBI with three stolen bases to lead the Stallions to a 7-4 win over Chester, Mar. 7.
Wilson is batting .500 for South Pointe (1-2) this season.
Grayson Woodard, Fort Mill boys’ soccer: The Fort Mill senior has two goals in the Yellow Jackets 4-3 season-opening victory at Spring Valley on March 6.
Woodard scored Fort Mill’s first two goals before the Yellow Jackets (1-0) won the game 4-3 on penalty kicks.
