Mallory Dover of the Clover golf team is The Herald’s Athlete of the Week.
Last week, the Blue Eagle junior shot a 78 to finish third at the Region 3-5A tournament at the Chester Golf Club.
Dover, who earned all-region honors, qualified for the 5A Upper State tournament as an individual and played in the event earlier this week — and she scored a 78, which was good enough for the 15th spot overall.
She has earned a place in the state tournament, which starts next week.
There were 26,220 votes cast in this week’s poll. Dover earned 29.5% of the vote; Ben McCall of Clover cross country earned 26.3% of the vote; and Grace Duey of Fort Mill volleyball earned 13% of the vote.
