Lily Grace Kennington of Great Falls is The Herald’s Athlete of the Week.
The Red Devil seventh-grader won the individual title at the Chester County Championships at Chester High on Nov. 1. Kennington was the Region 2-1A runner-up on Oct. 25 and notched a PR of 24:48 in September.
Kennington earned 79.3% of the vote. Sam Rich of Catawba Ridge earned 11.7% of the vote, and Alivia Cleveland of Fort Mill earned 8% of the vote.

Meet this week’s finalists
Alivia Cleveland, Fort Mill cross country. The Fort Mill eighth-grader ran an 18:51 to win her heat at the 5A state qualifier at Newberry College on Nov. 6. Cleveland led the Fort Mill girls’ cross country team to a second-place finish at the state qualifier, delivering the Yellow Jackets their fifth straight appearance in the 5A state championships.
Mason Haynes, Nation Ford cross country. The Falcon freshman ran a 16:32.20 to finish fifth at the 5A state qualifier at Newberry College on Nov. 6. Haynes, the Region 3-5A runner-up earlier this season, also led his Nation Ford boys’ cross country team to a sixth-place finish at the state qualifier.

Sam Rich, Catawba Ridge cross country. The Notre Dame University commit ran a personal-best 15:28.20 to win the 4A state qualifier by 30 seconds at Newberry College on Nov. 5. Rich’s run also helped the Catawba Ridge boys’ cross country to team to victory at the state qualifier.
Luis Rosa, Lewisville cross country: The junior ran a personal-best 20:25 to win the individual title at the Chester County Championships at Chester High on Nov. 1. Lewisville also won the team title at the Chester County Championships, edging Great Falls by three points.
