Hunter Hoffman of the Clover softball team is The Herald’s Athlete of the Week.

The Blue Eagles’ eighth-grader had two singles, a double and five RBI to lead Clover to an 11-1 win over Buford on March 15.

There were 29,913 participants in this week’s poll. Hoffman earned 39% of the vote. Brian Adams of Indian Land track earned 37% of the vote, and Chantel Chisholm of York track earned 16% of the vote.

Meet the finalists

Brian Adams, Indian Land track. The Indian Land senior had two personal bests to win the high jump (6-2) and the 400-meter dash (52.51) at Catawba Ridge on March 17. Adams also won the high jump (5-10) and helped the 4x100-meter relay to victor at York on March 14.

Carter Barrett, Indian Land baseball. The Warriors’ junior tossed a complete-game and only allowed seven hits and one run with eight strikeouts to lead Indian Land to a 3-1 win at York on March 17. Barrett threw 70 strikes in his 87 pitches in the victory. Indian Land (5-4) lost to York in the first two games of the series.

Chantel Chisholm, York track. The Cougars’ junior tossed the discus a personal-record 104-4 to win the event in a home meet against Gaffney, Hunter Huss, Indian Land and Riverwalk on March 14. She also won the javelin (85-0) and the shot put (33-2) at the same meet.

Jordan Dahmer, Rock Hill track. The Bearcats’ junior tied a personal-record to win the high jump (6-2) at Spring Valley on March 16. He also had a personal-best 20-1 to finish third-place in the long jump at the same meet.

Adrian Garthaus, Nation Ford soccer. The Falcons’ junior scored three goals, all in first half, to lead Nation Ford to a 6-1 win over Gaffney on March 15. He also scored his team’s final goal to secure the victory as Nation Ford won 3-1 at Clover on March 18. Nation Ford is 8-5-1 overall this season.

Chase Harris, Fort Mill tennis. The Yellow Jackets’ senior won both of his matches at No. 2 singles to help Fort Mill beat Boiling Springs and Catawba Ridge this week. Harris won (6-1, 6-3) at No. 2 singles in a 5-1 win over Catawba Ridge on March 14. He also won (6-0, 6-2) at No. 2 singles to help the Yellow Jackets to a 4-2 win over Boiling Springs on March 17. Fort Mill is off to a 3-0 start this season.

Josh Ramirez, Lewisville soccer. The Lions’ senior scored two goals and had one assist as Lewisville rallied from a 3-0 deficit to beat Union 4-3 in double overtime on the road on March 15. Ramirez scored the game-winning goal in double overtime. He also had both goals in a 5-2 loss at York on March 17. Ramirez has five goals and three assists for Lewisville (3-4) this season.

Ron Robinson, Lancaster baseball. The Bruins’ senior went 2-for-4 with a double, three runs scored and five RBI to lead Lancaster 12-0 win at Chester on March 14. Robinson earned the win on the mound with six strikeouts and one run allowed in five innings of work, while going 2-for-2 at the plate with three RBI in a 4-2 victory at Buford on March 17. Lancaster is 4-4 overall this season.

Jordan Schuhlein, York Prep soccer. The Patriots’ junior scored both goals as York Prep beat Andrew Jackson for the first time 2-0 on March 15. York Prep also lost to 3-0 at Buford on March 17. Schuhlein had six goals and two assists for York Prep (3-2) this season.

Olivia Southerly, Nation Ford softball. The Falcons’ senior centerfielder went 11-for-15 at the plate with eight singles, two doubles, a grand slam, home run, four RBI and three runs scored as Nation Ford went 3-3 this past week. Southerly was named to the Byrnes Invitational all-tournament team for her efforts on March 19. Nation Ford is 6-4 overall this season.

Harrison Wilson, Catawba Ridge baseball. The Winthrop University signee continues to be hot at the plate, going 5-for-12 with a double, two home runs and eight RBI in a three-game sweep of South Pointe this week. Wilson is hitting .517 with four home runs, five doubles and 17 RBI for Catawba Ridge (7-2) this season.
