Greyson Yarborough of the Great Falls golf team is The Herald’s Athlete of the Week.

The Red Devil seventh-grader shot a 109 to finish as runner-up in a Region 2-1A match at Chester Golf Club on April 25. Yarborough also earned All-Region honors for his efforts.

There were 14,411 votes cast in this week’s poll. Yarborough earned 50% of the vote. Benjamin McCall of Clover track earned 34% of the vote, and Dylan Harder of Fort Mill girls soccer earned 13% of the vote.

Meet Athlete of the Week candidates

Owen Ameo, Nation Ford lacrosse. The Falcon senior scored two goals and had one assist to lead Nation Ford to an 8-7 win over JL Mann in the 5A Upper State championship game on April 26. Ameo also scored five goals in Nation Ford’s loss to Wando in the 5A state championship game on April 30. Nation Ford finished the season 19-1.

Alivia Cleveland, Fort Mill track. The Yellow Jacket eighth-grader ran a personal-record 5:15.38 to win the 1600-meter run at the Tri-County Championships at South Pointe on April 28. Cleveland also won the 3200-meter run in 11:20.49 and led the Fort Mill 4x800-meter relay to victory in the same meet. The Fort Mill girls track team won the Tri-County Championships by 16.5 points.

Dylan Harder, Fort Mill girls soccer. Harder scored a goal to help Fort Mill to a 2-0 win over rival Nation Ford on April 26. The win moved Fort Mill (13-4-3, 6-2) into second-place in Region 3-5A behind Clover ahead of the state playoffs.

Jeremiah Hicks, Lancaster track. The Bruin senior went a personal-best 43-0 to win the triple jump at the Tri-County Championships at South Pointe on April 28. Hicks also won the long jump, going 21-6.5, at the same meet. The Lancaster boys track team finished in fifth at the Tri-County Championships.

Kyle Knoll, Indian Land baseball. The Warrior senior tossed a no-hitter with eight strikeouts to lead Indian Land to a 2-0 win over Northwestern on April 28. Indian Land (14-11) swept Lewisville in two games this past week, too.

Alex Lopez, Rock Hill soccer. The senior forward scored three goals and had one assist to lead Rock Hill to a 5-4 win over Indian Land on April 26. Rock Hill (11-11) also lost 3-1 to Lancaster on April 28.

Benjamin McCall, Clover track. The Blue Eagle senior ran a personal-best 4:41.61 to win the 1600-meter run in a home meet against Gaffney on April 28. McCall also ran an 11:42.23 to win the 3200-meter run at the same meet to lead the Clover boys track team to victory by 72.5 points.

Noah Summers, Rock Hill track. The Bearcat senior and javeline thrower notched a personal-best and school-record 157-10 to win the event in a meet with Northwestern on April 27.

Caden Tull, Catawba Ridge soccer. The Copperhead junior forward had two goals to lead Catawba Ridge to a 4-0 win at Fort Mill on April 29. Tull had 28 goals for a Catawba Ridge team (18-2) that has won 13 straight games.
