RedStone in Indian Land has a new restaurant. The food, though, will be familiar

The Greek Grill in Tega Cay is expanding with a new Indian Land site planned.
The Greek Grill in Tega Cay is expanding with a new Indian Land site planned.

A popular local eatery is now on its way to becoming two popular local eateries.

The Greek Grill is now open in Indian Land. The 9700 Redstone Drive address is in the RedStone shopping center known for its movie theater and a list of established restaurants. It’s the second Greek Grill, after the one opened by the Pahountis a half dozen years ago that still operates on Stonecrest Boulevard in Tega Cay.

The new location isn’t far south of the North Carolina line, or its large potential customer bases in Charlotte or Ballantyne.

Maria Pahountis handles marketing for the restaurants. She’s the daughter of the Tega Cay location’s founder Nick. Her husband and brother are partners in the Indian Land site.

“The menu will be exactly the same,” Maria Pahountis said. “The aesthetic is a little different. The atmosphere does feel a little different, but the food is exactly the same.”

Greek Grill offers family recipe tradional Greek fare like gyros, souvlaki, lamb and baklava. It has burgers, salads, pitas. It has a range of desserts.

There was a soft opening in Indian Land on Monday. With COVID-19 delays, staffing and similar issues related to the restaurant industry right now, the restaurant hasn’t hyped its opening much of late. Grand opening details are still to be determined.

“We just kind of opened our doors and whoever was around, if they popped their heads in, we were open,” Pahountis said.

When Pahountis moved to the area from New Jersey last summer, she was surprised how far the two relatively close Greek Grill restaurants are. She’s already heard from plenty of people excited about the Indian Land location, as it’s the same food but closer to where they live or work.

“If you look on the map it’s only 10 miles, but that 10 miles can take you a while,” Pahountis said.

While opening during the pandemic has been a challenge, she expects people familiar with the Tega Cay restaurant to find a welcome spot in Indian Land.

“We’ll bring the same great food to the other side of town,” she said.
