A new Rock Hill nightclub can open for business. Here’s where it’s planned to go

A new Rock Hill nightclub can now move forward with plans to open.

The nightclub and bar covers 1,200 square feet of space on the end of a retail strip center at 560 N. Anderson Road. It’s part of Twenty One Plaza. An application to the city lists the name of the project as BackYard.

Because of the nightclub use, the project needed a special city zoning board of appeals decision. The appeals board gave approval Tuesday night.

According to the application, there won’t be any outside activity as part of the club. There will be hired security to monitor the parking area.

A site plan for the former credit repair business site shows seating for about 50 customers along the inside perimeter of the establishment, with a central open area. The bar menu would include wings and appetizers.

The club site is near the North Anderson intersection with Mt. Gallant Road. It’s near the Sonny’s Dutch Mill restaurant and other businesses. Many of the businesses are open during the day and not on weekends, according to the application, which fits with parking and space needs for a nightclub and bar.

The zoning appeals board did set some requirements for improved outdoor lighting. Nightclubs, by city rule, have to be at least 300 feet from residential property, schools and parks. They can’t be open from 2-6 a.m. daily. The applicant stated there won’t be outdoor music, nor indoor music neighboring properties would hear.
