Like New York style pizza? A new, family restaurant will serve Fort Mill, Charlotte

A new Fort Mill pizza place will open Thursday, though the owners aren’t new to the pizza business.

Jonathan and Ashley Neighbors started Vito’s Pizza as a food truck eight years ago serving the greater Charlotte area. Now they’ll open a storefront near Green Room Cafe, Attic Gift Shop, NarroWay Productions and other businesses in the long-time Carousel Shopping Center at 3312 U.S. 21 in Fort Mill.

Grand opening will be 5 p.m. Thursday. Hours are 5-8:30 p.m. Thursday through Saturday each week.

Ashley Neighbors said the spot is convenient for customers from Rock Hill and Fort Mill to Pineville and Steele Creek in North Carolina, who now won’t have to chase the pizza truck around Charlotte.

“There are very few restaurants and especially pizza in this particular location,” Neighbors said. “We are carry-out and delivery only but are in an up and coming shopping center with a cafe and soon-to-be ice cream shop as well.”

Popular items include the TopCat Pizza with hand-cut pepperoni, sliced sausage and ricotta on a garlic crust, the Roni Lover’s Stromboli, Vito’s Stix garlic cheese bread and classic cheese pizza. New additions include a southern cheeseburger pizza and cinnamon, sugar dessert knots.

Jonathan Neighbors follows in his grandfather’s footsteps as a pizza maker. Jonathan and Ashley are Fort Mill residents with plans on a family-run business.

“We’ve always talked about opening a pizza shop but it wasn’t until COVID and the start of serving local neighborhoods that we gained more vision for how we would do it,” Ashley Neighbors said. “We explored a few options and eventually settled on this location giving us the opportunity to work in our community, use our pizza truck for catering and still balance time off with our family.”

Vito’s is a New York style pizza. The food truck remains available for event catering. The vitospizzaclt.com website debuted Monday.

“We aim to serve high-quality ingredients that put our pizza in a league of its own so we offer a simplified menu,” Ashley Neighbors said. “All our dough is mixed and rolled in-house along with our cheese shredded and sauce made in the shop as well.”

The restaurant is open for carry-out and delivery. Orders can be placed online or in shop.
