This is where new senior living and self storage sites may go next in Rock Hill
Rock Hill could get a new senior living facility, and a new self-storage site.
Both submitted plans come to the city planning commission on Tuesday.
A new senior independent living facility is proposed at 1132 N. Anderson Road. A property owner out of Tennessee applied to put the facility on almost six acres on the east side of Anderson, south of Cherry Road near an ALDI grocery store and O’Reilly Auto Parts.
The proposal shows 196 residential units. Of them, 114 would be one-bedroom and 82 units would be two-bedroom. The facility would be restricted to ages 55 and older. The proposal shows amenities like a salon, theater room, library and meeting space. An outdoor amenity area also is shown.
The single building would be four stories, at more than 200,000 square feet.
The project comes up for major site plan approval on Tuesday.
In a separate decision, the planning commission will hear a proposal to rezone about six acres at 1250 and 1258 Springdale Road. Annexation and rezoning there would allow a new self-storage unit and retail building.
One parcel there is wooded. Another has three buildings used as a contractor’s yard. The site is behind Lowe’s Home Improvement at the roundabout of Springdale, Old Springdale Road and Ivy Hill Lane.
A rendering submitted with the application shows access off Springdale, two office buildings and eight storage buildings.
Unlike the major site plan for the senior living site, the annexation and rezoning requests for the storage facility will require Rock Hill City Council approval.
