RedStone in Indian Land is set to grow, and not just with new shopping and retail
More than 350 townhomes and apartments and new commercial space are in the works for the next phase of RedStone.
Redstone Investors applied to rezone about 26 acres at the intersection of U.S. 521 (Charlotte Highway) and Opportunity Drive. The property is immediately north of RedStone shopping center and northwest of the Black Horse Run subdivision. It’s across Charlotte Highway from the Lowe’s Home Improvement shopping center on S.C. 160.
Redstone Investors also applied for a master development plan and separate development agreement with the county. The county planning commission has a workshop scheduled for Thursday afternoon to take a look at the requests. A full planning commission meeting to include public hearing on the applications is set for July 19.
Lancaster County Council would have final say, with a recommendation from the planning commission. Council has its own public hearing set for Aug. 8.
Submitted plans indicate the project will include 354 townhomes or apartments and 24,000 square feet of new commercial property.
MPV Properties is the listed developer. A revised site plan submitted to the county shows four-story apartment buildings off Opportunity Drive, toward the center of the now vacant property. Townhome buildings would be just west, toward U.S. 21. Along U.S. 21 would be a 10,000-square-foot retail site plus several smaller strip shopping buildings and future retail sites.
Property in and around the RedStone site has been active. It’s in an area south of Charlotte and Ballantyne, with multiple direct access points to Fort Mill including S.C. 160 just across from the new site. Other area projects include the recently completed CrossRidge One office building, commercial outparcels at The Arches and new apartments with commercial space on Tadlock Drive across from CrossRidge.
