Want to throw axes in Rock Hill? A new spot has its grand opening this week

A new place to toss sharp objects with friends will open Friday in Rock Hill.

Craft Axe Throwing will debut its second area location. There’s one in Fort Mill now.

The Rock Hill site at 274 Columbia Ave., near Winthrop University in the Slow Play Brewing building, has been in the works for two years.

In an announcement Wednesday, company regional manager Jon Upton said Craft Axe Throwing looks to add a fun experience with quality service.

“We can’t wait to bring the same level of excitement and enjoyment that we brought to Fort Mill to the people of Rock Hill,” Upton said.

The Rock Hill site has eight throwing lanes. There’s a bar. Games are similar to darts, but with much larger objects thrown at wooden targets. Anyone 10 and older can play. Instructors will teach and assist players.

There are hourly rates or groups can book by lane. Online booking is available at craftaxethrowing.com.

Almost half of the 13 Craft Axe Throwing sites are in South Carolina. With its grand opening Friday Rock Hill joins other spots in Fort Mill, Columbia, Greenville, Lexington and Spartanburg.
