SC troopers investigating after Rock Hill police officer in crash, officials say

South Carolina state police are investigating after a Rock Hill Police Department officer was involved in a crash with a driver Monday, officials said.

The wreck happened around 5:30 a.m on Anderson Road near Interstate 77, said Lt. Michael Chavis of Rock Hill Police Department.

“One of our officers driving a marked unit was in a collision with a civilian vehicle,” Chavis said.

Injuries were reported but were not believed to be serious, Chavis said.

S.C. Highway Patrol troopers are investigating because the crash involved a Rock Hill officer, Chavis said. Rock Hill police policy dictates an outside agency investigate a collision involving an officer or vehicle, Chavis said.

Details about the wreck have not yet been released.
