Bicyclist killed in York County collision, the second area bike death in a month

A bicyclist has died after a crash with a car outside York on Sunday night, police said.

The collision between a person riding a bike and a sedan happened around 8:45 p.m. on Alexander Love Highway near Blessed Hope Road, Sgt. Tyler Tidwell of the S.C. Highway Patrol said. The area is west of the York city limits.

The name of the person killed has not yet been released.

The driver of the car was not hurt, officials said.

The investigation into the fatality remains ongoing by troopers and the coroner, according to officials.

The fatality is the second in less than a month in York County. On March 31, a man riding a bicycle died in a collision with a Jeep near Lake Wylie.
