A Rock Hill moped driver has died after being hit by a car over the holiday weekend.

Germal Kennedy, 43, died at Piedmont Medical Center after being struck on Finley Road by a Ford Fusion sedan around 6:45 p.m. Saturday, according to the York County Coroner and Rock Hill Police Department. The area is south of downtown.

Police said in a statement the Ford was turning left into a residence when Kennedy was hit.

Officers charged the car driver, Jeremy Emmanuel Durham, 35, of Lancaster, with driving under suspension and failure to yield the right of way while turning left.

The fatality involving a motorized cycle is the fourth in York County since May. Riders died on June 27, June 21, and May 18 in previous collisions, according to Rock Hill police and the S.C. Highway Patrol.
