Lancaster pedestrian, 48, dies after being hit by car while walking, troopers say

A pedestrian hit by a car in Lancaster County has died, officials said.

Kevin Mark Shute, 48, of Lancaster, was the pedestrian who was killed, said Karla Knight-Deese, Lancaster County Coroner.

The collision happened before midnight Wednesday on Airport Road outside the Lancaster city limits, said Trooper Joe Hovis of the S.C. Highway Patrol.

The pedestrian was walking in the road when struck, Hovis said. The pedestrian died at the scene, Hovis said.

The driver of the car and a passenger in the car were not hurt, Hovis said. No charges have been filed in the case, Hovis said.
