Teen dead, 3 hurt in head-on crash involving 3 vehicles in Lancaster County

A teen woman was killed and three other people were hurt Monday in a head-on crash in Lancaster County, police and coroner officials said.

Alaysia Railey, 19, of Pageland, died at the scene, said Lancaster County Coroner Karla-Knight-Deese.

The wreck happened before 1 p.m. on S.C. 9 east of Lancaster and involved three vehicles, said Master Trooper Gary Miller of the S.C. Highway Patrol.

The woman who was killed was traveling east on the highway when her 2006 Hyundai went left of center and struck a westbound pickup truck head-on, Miller said.

A car behind the pickup truck then struck the truck, Miller said.

Both occupants of the truck were hurt, as was the driver of the third vehicle, Miller said. All three were taken to Medical University of South Carolina hospital in Lancaster by EMS, officials said.

The crash remains under investigation by the S.C. Department of Public Safety and the coroner’s office.
