2nd Shutterfly employee at Fort Mill plant positive for coronavirus, company says
A second employee at Shutterfly in Fort Mill has tested positive for Covid-19, officials with the company said.
Two other workers have been quarantined after they had contact with the employee at the site in York County , said Sondra Harding, spokesperson for Shutterfly.
The positive test of the second worker was found Tuesday, Harding said. The first positive test of an employee was in May, Harding said.
Shutterfly has around 400 employees at the Fort Mill site, Harding said.
“Upon learning of the positive test result, our teams conducted immediate and thorough contact tracing,” Harding said in a written statement to The Herald. “As a result of this week’s instance, we have required two additional employees to quarantine away from the facility for 14 days since exposure.”
The employee who tested postive, and the two who were in contact, will be paid while out of work for 14 days, Harding said.
“An employee who receives a positive test will be compensated for their regularly scheduled shifts for a period of 14 days or until coverage begins under Shutterfly’s Short Term Disability plan,” Harding said. “Any employee who is required to quarantine as a result of verified contact tracing from an incident at the facility will be compensated for their regularly scheduled shifts, for a period of 14 days from exposure.”
The facility in Fort Mill continues to be cleaned and Centers for Disease Control safety measures are being followed, Harding said.
“In Fort Mill we have been conducting daily cleaning and disinfection of the facility, and have increased the frequency of our extra deep cleaning and sanitizing of all work and manufacturing areas, restrooms and breakrooms,” Harding said. “.Additionally, we have staggered break times, limited access to common areas, and marked floors in areas where employees congregate to ensure proper social distancing. We have also provided cloth face coverings and face shields to all employees in the facility, and have mandated the use of face coverings on the production floor.”
Shutterfly opened its York County location near Interstate 77 close to Exit 85 in 2013. Shutterfly provides communications and products including personalized photographs and other services, according to its website.
York County has had 1.685 positive coronavirus cases since the pandemic began in March, according to the S.C. Department of Health and Environmental Control.
In the area business environment, positive cases have been reported at a Publix grocery store in Fort Mill, Lowe’s Home Improvement in York, three area Food Lion stores in York and Lancaster counties, a Bojangle’s restaurant in Lancaster, and at MacLean Power System manufacturing site in York.
