Motorcycle driver killed in York County I-77 crash, trooper says

A motorcyclist has died after a crash on Interstate 77 in York County, officials said.

The motorcycle, a 2003 Harley-Davidson, was the only vehicle involved in the wreck Saturday on southbound I-77 at mile marker 78, said Master Trooper Brandon Bolt of the S.C. Highway Patrol.

The area is south of the Dave Lyle Boulevard Exit near the Rock Hill city limits.

The York County Coroner’s Office has not yet identified the driver who was killed.

The crash remains under investigation by the highway patrol, coroner’s office, and the S.C. Department of Public Safety Multi-Agency Accident Investigation Team, officials said.

The fatality is the 37th on York County roads in 2021, according to public safety statistics. Across South Carolina, 133 motorcyclists have died in collisions in 2021, public safety statistics show.
