Chester clerk robbed at gunpoint in crime caught on store video, sheriff says

A man armed with a gun is being sought by law enforcement after he robbed a Chester convenience store, deputies said.

The crime happened Sunday night after 8 p.m. at Danny’s Food Mart at 782 Pinckney Street in Chester, said Max Dorsey, Chester County Sheriff.

Officers found money had been taken from the register by a suspect, Dorsey said. The suspect fled on foot, Dorsey said.

No injuries were reported. The store has surveillance cameras, Dorsey said.

Chester deputies released store surveillance photos of the robbery on the sherioff’s office Facebook page. In the photos, the suspect can be seen pointing the gun at the clerk, Dorsey said.

Sheriff’s deputies, and police from the State Law Enforcement Division, searched the area for the suspect. Officers used a SLED helicopter and K-9 dog teams to search near the intersection of U.S. 321 and S.C. 9, Dorsey said.

Detectives continued to work the case Monday but as of Tuesday morning no arrests had been made, Dorsey said.

Dorsey asked anyone with information on the suspect to call 911 or the sheriff’s office at 803-581-5131.
