Family robbed at gunpoint while unloading groceries at Rock Hill home, police say

A Rock Hill family unloading groceries in their driveway were robbed at gunpoint, police said.

The incident happened around 10:15 p.m. Saturday on Amelia Avenue west of Cherry Road, said Lt. Michael Chavis of Rock Hill Police Department.

The family of two adults and two children had come home from Walmart with groceries and were unloading in the driveway when someone rushed up the driveway with the gun and demanded money, according to the police report.

A woman was hit in the head by the armed assailant, according to the police report.

The suspect stole the woman’s purse and the man’s wallet, police said.

An undisclosed amount of cash was stolen, Chavis said. No arrests have been made and the investigation ongoing.
