Man killed in Chester County shooting; SLED, sheriff investigating, officials say

A man was fatally shot Wednesday in Chester County, officials said.

The shooting happened in the 1600 block of Pinckney Road, about five miles outside the city of Chester, according to the Chester County Sheriff’s Office.

Chester County Coroner officials were on scene at 1 p.m., but have not identified the victim, said Tommy Williams, assistant coroner.

The fatal shooting is in the early stages of investigation, said Chester County Sheriff Max Dorsey.

Deputies arrived on scene around noon, deputies said.

Dorsey said he requested State Law Enforcement Division agents to assist with crime scene and forensics because of SLED’s expertise.

No other information has yet been released.
