Lancaster woman charged in grocery store robbery, police say

A Lancaster woman is charged with the robbery of a grocery store and threatening a clerk, saying she had accomplices outside who were willing to shoot, police said.

Kadence DeAnna Swindall, 21, is charged with armed robbery at the Food Lion on North Main Street in Lancaster, said Scott Grant, Lancaster Police Department chief.

The robbery happened around 9:45 p.m. Monday, according to police records.

Swindall handed a note to the clerk saying she wanted money, Grant said. Swindall took money and fled the store, Grant said.

“Thankfully, no one was hurt,’ Grant said.

After Lancaster police detectives worked with Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office deputies, Swindall was located and charged with the robbery, Grant said.

“Nothing indicates anyone else was involved,” Grant said.

Armed robbery carries a sentence of a 10 years to 30 years in prison for a conviction under South Carolina law.

Grant remains at the Lancaster County jail pending a bond hearing, according to jail and court records.
