NC man charged with felony DUI with death, injuries in fatal Rock Hill crash
A North Carolina man has been charged with DUI resulting in death after a fatal crash last month in Rock Hill, according to police and jail records.
Kenneth Earl Edwards, 52, was arrested Sunday after he was released from a hospital. The crash happened on Heckle Boulevard, said Lt. Michael Chavis of the Rock Hill Police Department.
Edwards is charged with felony DUI with death, felony DUI with great bodily injury, three drug charges, and breach of trust, according to police and York County jail records. The York County jail lists Edwards home address as Mooresboro, N.C.
Edwards was the driver of a 2005 Saturn that collided with a 2000 Ford Mustang on April 5, Chavis said. The passenger in Edwards’ car, Krystle Edwards, 36, died after the crash, according to York County Coroner Sabrina Gast.
The driver of the other vehicle also was hurt, Chavis said.
A conviction for felony DUI with death carries a sentence of up to 25 years in prison, South Carolina law states. A conviction for felony DUI with great bodily injury carries a sentence of up to 15 years in prison.
Kenneth Earl Edwards is being held at the York County detention center under a $150,000 bond, jail records show.
