2 Rock Hill teens arrested, charged with stealing woman’s car at gunpoint, police say

A pair of Rock Hill teens have been arrested and charged with stealing a woman’s car at gunpoint, police said.

Jontarius Delmone Reid, 18, and a 17-year-old juvenile are charged with armed robbery and criminal conspiracy in the theft of the woman’s car from the parking area of the Mallard Pointe Apartments, said Lt. Michael Chavis of the Rock Hill Police Department.

Reid also is charged with illegal possession of a weapon, possession of a stolen gun, and possession of a weapon during a violent crime, according to police and jail records.

The identity of the 17-year-old was not released because of his age.

The woman was in her Honda car Saturday with a minor child when two suspects stole the car, Chavis said. One suspect fled in the car, Chavis said. The 17-year-old suspect left the scene on a moped, Chavis said.

The woman and her child were not hurt, Chavis said.

The 17-year-old was caught shortly after the crime near Winthrop Coliseum off Eden Terrace, according to Chavis and police records.

Reid was taken into custody driving the stolen car after a traffic stop on Cherry Road, Chavis said. Officers recovered a weapon that had previously been reported stolen, Chavis said.

Reid is being held under a $75,000 bond at the York County jail, records show.
