Matthews NC man fatally shot by Indian Land homeowner, Lancaster County sheriff says

An Indian Land homeowner fatally shot a North Carolina man Sunday during a dispute in Lancaster County, officials said.

The shooting death happened on Fox Ridge Lane around 3:30 a.m., said Doug Barfield, spokesman for the Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office.

The deceased man was identified Tuesday by Lancaster County Coroner Karla Knight-Deese as Anastasio Kroustalis, 37, of Matthews, N.C.

No charges have been filed in the death, Barfield said. The homeowner, a 46-year-old man, was present when deputies arrived and is cooperating with law enforcement, Barfield said.

The names of the other two people involved have not been released.

The deceased man, who is 37, had gone to the house in the Fox Ridge subdivision because of a woman from Indian Trail, N.C. He had been in a relationship with the woman, Lancaster County Sheriff Barry Faile said.

“We do not believe the man who is deceased was armed,” Barfield said.

The woman involved suffered injuries and was treated and released at a hospital, Barfield said. The homeowner complained of minor injuries but did not require medical treatment, deputies said.

Police and prosecutors are investigating to determine if charges will be filed, Barfield said.
