Coroner identifies body of woman found in a Chester County field. She was stabbed.
A body found in a Chester County field in July has been identified as a York County woman, officials said.
The woman was identified Monday as Lillian Ann Marie Payne, 21, of Rock Hill, said Terry Tinker, Chester County Coroner. The victim was stabbed and her death is being investigated as a homicide, Tinker said.
Payne’s body was found in a field near Lowrys just south of the York County line on July 22, police and coroner officials said.
Chester County Sheriff Max Dorsey said the homicide investigation remains ongoing.
Payne was listed in May as missing by York County deputies, said Trent Fariis, spokesman for the York County Sheriff’s Office. She was last seen near a gas station in eastern York County close to Interstate 77.
York County investigators are assisting Chester County deputies in the investigation, Faris said.
Agents with the State Law Enforcement Division also are involved in the case. SLED crime scene specialists and forensic units were at the scene when the body was found and are helping in the homicide probe, officials said.
