‘Cold’ horse falls into collapsed septic tank, CO cops say. See ‘complicated’ rescue
A horse was rescued after falling into a collapsed septic tank, Colorado officers said.
Pueblo County deputies and a local veterinarian found a horse “sitting in chest-deep” sewage with “only her head and front hooves” sticking out, according to a Feb. 8 post from the sheriff’s office on X, formerly known as Twitter.
The horse was “cold” and wet from being trapped in the tank’s liquid, deputies said.
That’s when the horse was sedated and the “complicated but rewarding” rescue mission began, deputies said.
The rescuers put tow straps under her stomach and front legs, officers said. Then they used a truck-mounted crane to pull her out of the hole.
Eventually, the horse woke up, and deputies said she’s “doing well,” according to the post.
Pueblo County is about a 120-mile drive southeast of Denver.
