Armed with a “full-length sword,” a man kicked down a door to an apartment and stabbed a stranger in the chest, Missouri police said.
Rodney Cox broke into two apartments on April 18, University City police said in a probable cause statement. He was charged with assault, armed criminal action and two counts of burglary, according to a criminal complaint.

He kicked down the door to one apartment and swung a sword over his head as someone sat on the couch in the living room, police said. That person’s dog barked and Cox fled, according to the complaint.
The sword-wielding man kicked down a second apartment door where he came into contact with another person unfamiliar to him, police said. He stabbed the person in the chest with the sword, according to police.
The victim was transported to a hospital for treatment, according to court documents.
Cox was being held in jail on a $250,000 bond. He was scheduled to appear in court the morning of April 21.
