People flagged down deputy after shooting in Richland County, SC sheriff says

A search is underway for the person who pulled a trigger in a Saturday night shooting in South Carolina, according to the Richland County Sheriff’s Department.

At about 6:30 p.m., deputies were flagged down by multiple people after a man was shot, the sheriff’s department said Monday in a news release.

The adult victim was found lying on the ground in the area of Beatty Road and Kay Street, according to the release. That’s in the St. Andrews area of Columbia.

The victim was shot in the lower body and he was taken to an area hospital, the sheriff’s department said. Further information on the victim’s condition was not available.

No other injuries were reported.

The shooter, or shooters, had left the area by the time deputies arrived, according to the release. Information on the shooter was not available, and there was no word about a motive for the gunfire.

No arrests have been reported by the sheriff’s department, which is continuing to investigate the shooting.
