Rock Hill man killed in fatal crash when car hits tree, police and coroner say

A driver was killed Sunday in a crash in Rock Hill when a car went off a road and hit a tree, officials said.

The driver died at the scene on Brice Street, according to a Rock Hill Police Department written statement. The area of the crash is in southern Rock Hill off Crawford Road near Clinton College.

York County Coroner Sabrina Gast identified the man who died as Kendrick Simril, 43, of Rock Hill.

Simril was the only occupant of a 1998 Lincoln sedan that went off the road and hit a utility pole guide wire before striking the tree, police said.

The crash remains under investigation by the police department’s accident reconstruction team and the York County Coroner’s Office.
