Domestic violence: Rock Hill man charged with kidnapping, firing gun, police say
A Rock Hill man has been arrested and charged with domestic violence and kidnapping. Police say he held his girlfriend against her will, and fired a gun in their apartment.
Malcolm Enrique Moore, 21, is charged with kidnapping, first-degree domestic violence, possession of a weapon during a violent crime, and possession of a weapon by a person who has been convicted of a violent felony, according to police and jail records.
Moore is accused in connection with an incident Monday at an apartment in the 300 block of East Main Street near downtown, said Lt. Michael Chavis of the Rock Hill Police Department.
The woman hid in a bedroom, then Moore fired a gun inside the residence, Chavis said.
“He prevented her from leaving,” Chavis said.
After Moore left the apartment and the victim called for help, he was taken into custody by Rock Hill officers, Chavis said. Police recovered a weapon when Moore was arrested, Chavis said.
Moore has past convictions for burglary, robbery and larceny, South Carolina court records show.
Moore faces as much as 50 years in prison if convicted of all charges. Kidnapping carries up to 30 years in South Carolina for a conviction, state law shows. First degree domestic violence that involves a gun carries up to 10 years, and the weapons charges carry up to five years each, state law shows.
He is being held without bond at the York County jail after a magistrate judge denied bond in an initial court appearance.
