A man accused of trying to shove his wife off a hiking trail and using a rock to strike her in the head has been arrested, police in Hawaii said.

The wife was taken to a hospital after the March 24 attack and was in critical condition, the Honolulu Police Department said in a news release.

The 46-year-old man was arrested later in the day “after a brief foot pursuit” in the Pali Highway area on the island of Oahu, police said.

McClatchy News isn’t naming him pending charges being filed.

A LinkedIn page appearing to belong to the man lists him as an anesthesiologist on the island of Maui. He worked with a medical group, Hawaii News Now reported, saying he’s been suspended.

He previously worked as a doctor in Pittsburgh, WTAE and KDKA reported.
