Deputies are continuing to investigate after a South Carolina man died in a shooting near Rock Hill.

Tkai Perry, 21, of Lancaster, died at the scene late Friday night near the intersection of Sturgis Road and Springdale Road, the York County Coroner said. The area is just outside the Rock Hill city limits east of Interstate 77 and the commercial and residential district of Dave Lyle Boulevard.

Detectives are continuing to investigate, York County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Trent Faris said Monday. No other details about what led to the shooting or a motive for the killing have been released.

The fatality is the eighth deadly shooting in York County in 2026. Three have been inside the city of Rock Hill and five have been outside the city in the county.

This is a developing story.
