The two latest businesses joining downtown Fort Mill add to this growing list
Downtown Fort Mill continues to grow, with a new business and a well-known one.
Shanon Little just opened a new business at 231 Main St. called You, Me & the Dog. It’s in a former electrical company space. The store has a range of items for dogs, and for their owners, from leashes and collars to home goods, jewelry and kids items.
“We are a boutique and grooming shop,” Little said. “We’ve got a little bit of something for everybody.”
Next week the town historic review board will hear plans for a new sign and color scheme to show visitors the business is up and running.
“That’s the one drawback to us already being open at the moment,” Little said.
The review board also will hear about a new sign for the Fort Mill Pharmacy move. The long-time business will move to the former Founders Federal Credit Union site downtown, at 134 N. White St. The business has long been off Springcrest Drive, in what was a grocery store anchored shopping center that now serves primarily as parking and overflow space for business across S.C. 160 at Kingsley.
You, Me & the Dog and Fort Mill Pharmacy are just the latest downtown additions. Earlier this year Charlotte retailer Moxie Mercantile announced plans to open at 219 Main St. Last fall Kuester Commercial Real Estate planned a $2.7 million remodel for 219 and 221 Main St. The town sold the Spratt Building at 215 Main St. for development as a new bar, Whitaker’s.
Other projects downtown include Bossy Beulah’s Chicken Shak at the former Coleman’s Garage at 314 N. White St., near where Fort Mill Pharmacy will go, and the Stinger Sports baseball products company at 108 Spratt St. Illumination Wines also opened recently at 201 Springs St.
